Wenatchee National Forest Campground Cottonwood

Cottonwood was a really nice campground. We camped here for 3 days. It sits along the banks of the Entiat River. There is a very nice group camp here with a large outdoor rock fireplace. This was not the best choice for viewing stars there were no open spots to set the telescopes. Mike brought his 6 inch scope, and Gary brought his 10 inch scope. There were a lot of stars out. We hiked a little bit of the Shetipo Trail. It looked steep and we didn’t go very far because we we’re not prepared to go on a hike. The scenery was awesome, the weather was wonderful, light clouds and sunshine. The drive was very nice and there are some awesome homes along the way. It looks like there was a fire there at one time.

We camped here again, This time on the road side of the campground. There was not enough trafic to be a problem. There were lots of mule deer that tried to walk through our campsite to get to the river including a four and a five point buck. We built a Sundial that was fun and went on a short hike up the Entiat river valley. I'm sure we will return here again and again.
